I'm building my site at www.--------.com. In fact, I PM'd you on DP about adsense placement. I'd like to grow this site to include product reviews or recommended product listings for a perfect way to use chitika. I'm wondering how I can do without making it look spammy. I signed up for Chitika 3 days ago and I'm still waiting for their reply. Since I don't yet have a Chitika account, I'd understand if you don't want to help.

Hi C,

Thanks for your interest and for taking the time to fill in the form on our site.

First, before I come to the ads themselves I must point out that I found two copies of your site http://yoursite.com/ and http://www.yoursite.com/. Search engines see that as two different sites and this is a well known problem with Google. Search on "301 redirect duplicate content" if you want more info. It is easily fixed with a .htaccess file.

Second, I believe you'd achieve good results with a targeted Chitika 768x90 ad above the header or, probably even more effective, one of the smaller size Chitika ads floating to the left of the first paragraph. Unfortunately, Chitika won't do a great contextual job with a site like yours (Adsense is better in that respect) but if you choose a few keywords carefully and use the keyword rotation code on my site I believe that the EPC you'd get for Chitika will be more than double what Adsense is paying for those keywords that work on your site.

Third, I would add a 728 x 90 ad right to fill the space at the bottom of the main section and just above the footer. It looks empty and like something is missing. I wouldn't use an Adsense ad though as it will be the last Adsense ad in the html and Google puts the lowest paying ads last. I'd use that spot for a non-Google ad.

Fourth, pages like sound-compressor.php which have more content could easily take another ad without looking tacky. I'd right float a small ad (up to 250 x 250) within the body of the text.

Fifth, if you're looking to add reviews anyway it may be worth first reviewing those products that Chitika has ads for.
