Can you please have a look and see if my ad placements are good? I have done a few experiments and find that the current one gives me high CPC and better CTR than before. My traffic is still low so I can't be sure if this is because of the placement changes. My Chitika ads are still not optimized though (placement/keywords) so some pointers there are much appreciated. Thanks for doing this! The site is: -----.blogspot.com. "I"

Our Reply

Hi I, thanks for taking the time to fill in our form.

You've got a great blog talking about gadgets and very clever placement of the Chitika ads (and Google Ad Links). The background of the page is white and you have three Chitika ads (you've specified the keywords for each) in your left column, one under the other. They're using a white background etc to blend in with the page. Brilliant!

1. However, all three of them are below the fold. I would use at least one right at the top of your left column. It's well known that the EPCs for the Chitika ads tend to be quite high so I think it would be worth the position.

2. I notice that all the ads are using the default tabs - they all show the Specs tab first. On the tips page of this site you'll find the code to control which tab shows first. It may be worth playing around with that. For example, the specs tab of the Sony digital camera doesn't look as attractive as the Deals tab which shows a great price for that product.

3. Talking about prices - products that cost more tend to pay more. It's a generalisation, I know, but the logic is that something selling for $2,000 is likely making the business more bucks than something that sells for $1 and they can therefore afford to pay more per click. Your first ad is for a product costing $160, the second for one costing $200, and the third for one costing $3,000. I'd put the most expensive of your three products at the top! Chitika doesn't take conversions into account - just clicks, and you're bound to get some curiosity clicks especially if the price tab is not showing on this particular ad.

Hope that helps.
